Tipis are the dwellings of the nomadic, indiginous North American plains peoples. They were designed to be easily transportable and are made of a natural (waterproofed) cotton canvas supported on wooden poles.

Smoke escapes through the hole at the top and although many people now heat tipis with woodburning stoves they would originally have been heated with an open fire.

They are a great way to go cooler camping and if you don't fancy carting your own tipi around you can holiday on a woodland tipi campsite or you can hire one and have it transported to wherever you'd like to site it.
